GOSANET Foundation Targets 95% Malaria Prevention in Adaklu District by 2025
GOSANET Foundation, a Health NGO in collaboration with the National Malaria Elimination Control Programme, has expressed its determination to ensure that at least 95% of the population in the Adaklu district adopts one malaria preventive method by 2025. This is aimed at reducing malaria mortality and morbidity in the district.
The Executive Director of GOSANET Foundation, Mr. Samuel Yao Atidzah, made this known during a community engagement to commemorate Good Deeds Day at Adaklu Wumenu in the Adaklu district. Good Deeds Day is a global movement celebrated in 108 countries around the world, including Ghana, to extend help to the poor and vulnerable in society.
Mr. Atidzah emphasized that 95% of those with malaria symptoms in the district should seek medical care within 24 hours of the onset of symptoms by 2025. He disclosed that GOSANET Foundation was committed to sensitizing communities in the district on malaria prevention and control intervention, Covid 19 vaccine, and HIV Aids control.
To further create awareness, the Foundation is visiting markets, churches, and other faith-based organizations to sensitize them on malaria prevention methods. Mr. Atidzah also encouraged the people to visit the nearest health facilities to check their HIV Aids status, as anti-retroviral drugs are free.
In line with its commitment to improving the quality of healthcare delivery in the district, the Foundation presented used clothing to 30 widows from the community. The gesture was part of the celebration to mark Good Deeds Day.
Furthermore, GOSANET Foundation, in collaboration with the Ghana Library Authority, has organized reading-related activities and ICT training for students from selected schools in Ho. Mr. Atidzah advised the students to use ICT to broaden their academic horizon for a better future instead of engaging in fraudulent activities.
GOSANET Foundation’s efforts towards achieving 95% malaria prevention in the Adaklu district by 2025 are commendable. The Foundation’s commitment to sensitizing communities and providing free anti-retroviral drugs is highly appreciated. It is expected that other NGOs will emulate this laudable initiative in other districts across Ghana.
